Recent Posts Slider Released V0.6

As you guys know it creates the thumbnail of post image automatically according to slider size. For this it first check the custom field & if not mentioned then look for the first image of post. Now a new feature is added to check featured image too. So, now it will first check for the custom field then featured image & then first image of the post.

Fixed IE issue too. Those facing problem in IE please update to latest version & don’t forget to leave feedback whether it started working or not.

Some new features are on the way.

  • When i try to activate the plugin (version 0.6) i get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function has_post_thumbnail() in /home/deb33379/domains/kasteelschaesberg.info/public_html/wpress/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 148

What do i have to do, to install this promising plugin?

        • It seems the plugin cannot find the rps_custom_thumb. I created the field in one of my posts, filled it with a picture. Deactivated end activated the plugin. But no picture/thumb in my recent-posts-slide. Only a picture inside the post seems to work.
can you change the plugin so it also finds the rps_custom_thumb picture?

          • It is finding the rps_custom_thumb picture too. Please check the custom field name as ‘rps_custom_thumb’ & value as ‘http://www.kasteelschaesberg.info/wpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/kasteel_meezenbroek.jpg’

          • It is about the first slide “Kasteel weer zichtbaar”. I created a custom field in the post named “rps_custom_thumb”, with value : “http://www.kasteelschaesberg.info/wpress/wp-content/uploads/foto_kasteel_weer_zichtbaar_600x270_s_born.jpg”.
It is 600×270 pixels. Maybe that’s the problem?

      • I am working in a certain site that require this kind of task. I found your plugin after weeks of search but I can’t install it.

I got the same error, I am using the latest version

        Regards

        • It is because, you are trying to use an image which is small in size than slider. Please use a big one. Will fix it very soon.

  • The new version crashed with all the wordpress engine when I tried to post. There was no such problems with v0.5

    • Can you please elaborate a little what is the problem exactly. Is it throwing an error message or slider is not coming up?

      • There was no error messages, page just not loaded when I tried to update the post. And yes, the thumbnails was not shown on the front-end of my blog. I had returned to v0.5 and all going smooth by now.

  • please help
“Warning: strrpos() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/dobreblo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 180

  • I would like to increase the amount of space displayed between the bottom of the picture and the outside dimensions of the slider on the page.
I would also like to use my ‘Heading 2″ properties for the font of the post title on the slider.
Which settings/css do I change to make these updates?
    Thank you.

  • Sorry, please disregard that last message.
The only thing I would like to add is “by: ” right under the title in a smaller font. If you could let me know what I might modify in your files to do that, or add that capability to the plug-in, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    • Find this code
      $output .= ‘<a href=”‘.$post_details[$p][‘post_permalink’].'” >’.$post_details[$p][‘post_title’].'</a>’;

      And change it to
      $output .= ‘<a href=”‘.$post_details[$p][‘post_permalink’].'” >’.$post_details[$p][‘post_title’].'</a><strong>By:</strong>’;

  • Just wanted to say that after a long search I happened onto your slider and it was exactly what my client was looking for. Great job with this!

One question though: How do I increase the height of the slider and the height of the image as well? It seems to be stuck on 280px. I think I’d like to increase it to 325px to show more of the image.

Thanks again for such a great slider!

    • Thanks. To change the height go to Settings -> Recent Posts Slider & then change the height as you wish.

      • Thanks but that didn’t seem to take. Also, it was working fine until sometime yesterday and the client started getting this error when trying to create a post. Are you familiar with these errors?

Warning: strrpos() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/content/40/7427140/html/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 180

Any help would be much appreaciated…thank you!

        • As an update… I tried to delete and re-install the plugin and now I can’t. It gives me the above error(s) when I try to activate the plugin. Not sure what this could be?

          • Some other peoples are also facing this issue. Well I am working on it. It happens if you try to use the image which is smaller in size than slider.

          • Thanks for the amazingly fast reply! It’s a shame because this a perfect solution for my client 😉 Ok, we’ll just let me know if you make any progress.

Thanks again for the great support!

  • I installed the plugin yesterday on my WP 3.1 site. It worked fine, but then some images weren’t showing up. I added featured images to all of my posts and still the missing images didn’t show up.

I tried re-saving the settings and then a blank white page would appear in the admin where your plugin was. Changes were saved though.

I then de-activated all plugins except yours and it didn’t work. I tried to re-install and I got this message “Warning: strrpos() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/wwwindi/mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 180

Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/wwwindi/mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 180

I really love the plugin – can you give me some tips on how to get it to work?

    Thanks!

    • I am working on the issue. Will fix it very soon. It is happening because, I think you are trying to use an image which is small in size than slider. Please use a big one.

      • Same error happened to me, even the first time that I would try to activate it.
Warning: strrpos() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/…/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 180

  • Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/…./…../blog.unavitaverde.net/public_html/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-slider/recent-posts-slider.php on line 141

    • Can you please elaborate a little more.
Exactly where you are getting this message
      1. while activating a plugin
      2. while publishing a post
      3. or anywhere else.
